Merry christmas everyone!!!!!

Merry Christmas !!! Hope your day is going well, what are your plans later tonight?

I’m proud to say that for once I had presents to open on Christmas morning. Usually I open them whenever I receive them. I’m the most impatient person ever 😛

This year my sibs and I decided to get each other presents. Here’s the aftermath. I may or may not have been hinting to my brother about that cake stand for a couple years 😉

Last night at 1am I decided the house needed some kinda christmasy aspect to it since we don’t have a tree this year. So after my mom went to bed my sibs and I became the trouble makers that we always were >=) We got christmas lights and SCOTCH TAPED them to the wall.

We set up camp in the living room last night under the lights and watched “to grandmothers house we go” until we fell asleep. I have a feeling this is gonna be a new Christmas tradition 🙂

Technically it’s December 25th already but since I haven’t gone to bed yet, it’s still Christmas Eve so I’m not allowed to open the presents yet 😦

Side note: all them presents are piled on the fireplace because the grinch my mom threw out our christmas tree.

Remember that celebration I mentioned in the last post? Well it was last night and it was awwwwesomeee 🙂 i had my birthday dinner at the sandbar on granville island and if you’ve been reading my blog for a while you’ll know that it’s pretty much my favouritest place in the entire world!! Food was great, atmosphere was great and i felt so lucky everyone chose to spend their friday night with me 🙂

After the dinner a couple of us went to a bar for some drinks. Remember the disgust I expressed towards drinking? Well I have been feeling curious about alcohol for a little while and let’s just say yesterday was a changing point for me 😛 I may or may not have had a couple of drinks, BUT in my defense I was forced to! My friend Ganaban kept ordering me drinks and it would’ve been rude to decline. Good thing Elephant was there to take care of me, She went through a lot with me yesterday. A LOT. Elephant had to go to another party yesterday so Robert had to take me home. Let’s make one thing clear though: I was NOT drunk, the alcohol just didn’t settle well with me 😛

Although I don’t think that I’ll ever enjoy the taste of alcohol, I’m definitely more open about it now 🙂 Elephant, Pearly,
Ganaban, Jody and Robert, up for round two?

More photos of my birthday shall be uploaded later! Stay tuned if u want to see me coloured like a beet!

For now, enjoy this picture of me with all the amazing gifts my friends brought me. They know me better than I know myself. They got me chocolate, baking books and supplies, mitts and Taylor Swift’s perfume!!!!!! And Elephant gave me an elephant! They must’ve somehow read my mental wishlist.

I’m Free!

I’m freeeeee!! Finally on winter break, I thought it would never come! I had my last exam on the 20th =.= I think there should be a rule where you can’t have exams a week before christmas.

Break is gonna be short (it’s never long enough) but I’m glad I have plans for everyday!

Later tonight I’m gonna head out to celebrate my birthday with my friends. This is gonna be my first time celebrating with friends. I was never big on birthdays and I feel weird when ppl tell me happy birthday. Iunno why, I’m weird. It’s like receiving compliments, they just make me feel quirmy and I wanna run away. Can anyone relate?!

CHRISTMAS IS IN TWO DAYS!! My sibs and I decided to get each other gifts for the first time. All the other years we were too lazy to christmas shop, ha. I already know what one of my gifts are gonna be (my brother sucks at hiding things :P) and I’m SO excited for it cuz it’s food related!

I had two christmas dinners this week already, and they were traditional with turkey and everthing. On actually Christmas day I’m having hot pot. I’ve got it all backwards.

What are you guys doing for Christmas?

Cream Cheese Walnut Cookies

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons coarse salt
  • 2 cups (4 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 6 ounces cream cheese, (not whipped) room temperature
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 2 tablespoons plus 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups walnut halves (1 1/2 cups toasted and coarsely chopped), 1 cup finely chopped

How To

  1. Whisk together flour and salt in a large bowl; set aside. Put butter and cream cheese in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Mix on medium speed until pale and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Mix in sugar and vanilla. Reduce speed to low. Add flour mixture, and mix until just combined (do not overmix). Mix in toasted walnuts.
  2. Transfer dough to a work surface. Divide in half; shape each half into an 8 1/2-inch long log about 2 inches in diameter. Wrap each log in parchment paper; freeze until firm, about 30 minutes or up to 2 weeks.
  3. Preheat oven to 350 with racks in upper and lower thirds. Unwrap 1 log, and roll in 1/2 cup chopped walnuts, coating completely. Cut into 1/4-inch-thick rounds. Space 1 inch apart on baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
  4. Bake cookies, rotating halfway through, until golden around edges, 18 to 20 minutes. Let cool on sheets on wire racks. Repeat with remaining log and remaining 1/2 cup chopped walnuts. Cookies can be stored in airtight containers at room temperature up to 3 days.
